Q:
HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
A: By reading our Eligibility
Criteria statement. Individuals who do not pass this critieria
will be unable to participate.
Q:
WHAT KIND OF CASES ARE REFERRED TO Project 22?
A: Project 22 receives referrals from Traffic and Criminal
Courts.
Q:
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR Project 22?
A: It depends on what type of case you have. See below:
FOR
TRAFFIC CASES:
- For
Current Cases:
You must go to the Traffic Division at 661 Washington Street,
Oakland, CA and sign up at 8:00a.m.for 10:00a.m Court session.
- For
Past Due Cases: You must sign up at 10:30-11:30a.m. for 2:00p.m.
Court session. It is the discretion of the Commissioner to grant
you community service.
FOR
CRIMINAL CASES:
- After
you appear in Court, it is the discretion of the Judge to grant
you community service with Project 22.
- For

Q:
HOW MANY HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS MUST I PERFORM?
A: The amount of the hours is determined by the amount of
the fine assessed at a rate of $10 per hour.
Q:
WHERE CAN I PERFORM MY COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS?
A: You can perform your community service at a non-profit
organization of your choice as long as the agency is registered
and you have the approval from Project 22.
Q:
IS THERE A SIGN-UP FEE?
A: YES! Project 22 charges a fee based upon the amount of
the assigned community service hours.
Q:
WHY MUST I PAY A SERVICE FEE TO DO Project 22?
A: Project 22 is neither funded by the state nor the government.
Its existence is based upon the service fees paid by its clients.
Q:
WHAT IF I AM HAVING A PROBLEM COMPLETING MY HOURS ON TIME?
A: When you are in Court, you are assigned a future Court
date. If you have not completed your Project 22 requirements, you
MUST appear. It is at the discretion of the Court to grant you an
extension. If you do not do this it will result in a FAILURE TO
APPEAR for traffic cases or a WARRANT for criminal cases.

WHAT IF I DO NOT COMPLETE MY Project 22 ON TIME?
A: Bring your timesheet signed of any completed hours to
Project 22 by the RETURN TIMESHEET DATE. Project 22 will inform
the Court of the confirmed hours.
Q:
CAN I GET AN ABSTRACT FOR D.M.V. REGISTRATION AFTER I SIGN UP FOR
Project 22?
A: YES! You are able to obtain an abstract after signing
up for Project 22 providing the program requirements are completed.
Q:
CAN I PROTEST THE CITATIONS AFTER I SIGN UP FOR Project 22?
A: NO! Questions regarding this matter must be addressed
to the Traffic Division.
Q:
CAN I GO TO TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
A: NO! You have waived your right to traffic school when
you sign up for community service.
Q:
AM I ABLE TO CHANGE MY MIND AND PAY THE FINE INSTEAD OF PERFORMING
THE COMMUNITY SERVICE?
A: YES! You must pay the fine at 661 Washington Street, Oakland,
Ca. Traffic Division.
Q:
IF I CHOOSE TO DO PART OF MY REQUIRED Project 22 HOURS, CAN I PAY
THE DIFFERENCE OF THE HOURS LEFT?
A: YES! As long as you are within the time allowed, you must
go back to Court to show proof of hours completed and pay the remainder
to Traffic Court.
Q:
WHAT DO I DO IF I NEED AN ABSTRACT WHEN I HAVE A 40508B?
A: When you return your timesheet and the hours have been
confirmed, you must inform Project 22 that will need an abstract.
Project 22 will notify the Traffic Division that you have completed
your program requirements. You may purchase an abstract from the
Traffic Division.
